Anyone know the name of a fiction book dealing with creole magic where a mother and kids never age?

In this book, the mother doesn't want to get old, so she hires a magician to cast a spell to keep her young. Not wanting to see her children get old and die, she has them stay young also. As a result, they go through time never aging. This becomes something of a curse.
