Me and my boyfriend need legal advice...?

so three years ago a very bad crime happened it ended up to be first and third degree felonies- now the three years later one man is found guilty and claims my boyfriend was an accomplice- but three years ago he had been invesigated and never heard another word- was 15 at the time, now 19 we live in utah by the way, he is accused by the defendant that when he was found guilty in febuary two months ago the defendant claims he was there as an accomplice- the news reports even say they are invesigating the case, but he wasn't there, and it has been two months since this was said, we were expecting the police to show up and everything but no word nothing, and we have had run ins with the police- no charges but nothing. Should we consult a lawyer? We are both scared, i mean he wasn't there thats why we believe we have heard nothing.
